The EACEA awarded a 4,46M€ EU co-funding grant to the department of IT at Åbo Akademi to establish a new European master programme on the Engineering of Data-intensive Intelligent Software Systems (EDISS). This funding consolidates the department in its position as an attractive pole of national and international excellence in the fields of data science and software engineering.
This new Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree Programme will be coordinated by Åbo Akademi and is a joint venture with Mälardalens högskola (Mälardalen University-MDH, Sweden), Università degli Studi dell’Aquila (University of L’Aquila-UAQ, Italy) and Universitat de les Illes Balears – UIB (University of the Balearic Islands – UIB, Spain).
The grant will cover part of the programme costs and provides scholarships to a total of 88 students. The first student cohort will be enrolled at Åbo Akademi University for the academic year 2021-22 and will be awarded three possible double degrees at the end of this 2-year master programme (ÅA-MDH; ÅA-UIB or ÅA-UAQ).
